The Philippine women's national team faced another significant loss, defeated by South Korea with a score of 4-0.
The South Korean women's team continued to demonstrate their strength entering the match against the Philippines, following a 3-0 victory over Iran in their opening game. Aiming to secure an early spot in the knockout stage, the "Land of the Morning Calm" squad proactively pushed their formation high and controlled the game from the very first minutes.
Nevertheless, the Philippine women also started with determination after their 0-1 loss to host nation Australia in the first match. The Southeast Asian representatives tried to organize a solid defense to avoid early elimination, but they only held out until the 12th minute. From Kim Shin Ji's assist, Jeon Yu Gyeong finished accurately to open the scoring for South Korea.
Just three minutes later, the lead was doubled. Park Soo Jeong unleashed a beautiful long-range shot from outside the box, sending the ball into the top corner where goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel could not reach it. South Korea ended the first half with a 2-0 advantage.
In the second half, South Korea continued to dominate and added another goal in the 56th minute through Mun Eun Ju, sealing a 3-0 victory. This result brings the East Asian team very close to a quarter-final berth and could even see them advance early if Iran does not defeat Australia in the remaining match.
