Famous and experienced sports commentators have voiced their opinions regarding the recent crackdown on a new illegal football streaming web system.
The dismantling of the illegal broadcasting network "Xôi Lạc TV" and the prosecution of 30 suspects has attracted significant public attention. Not only did this network cause losses to legitimate sports rights holders, but it was also found to be involved in promoting and organizing online gambling.
On the program "The Champion", many veteran commentators and sports journalists expressed candid views on the phenomenon of illegal streaming sites operating for a long time and attracting a large audience.
Journalist Trịnh Long Vũ believes the issue is not only about illegal broadcasting but also relates to audience awareness. He shared: "The piracy is one thing, but what saddens me is that many people support it. This is a matter of legal awareness."
Meanwhile, Commentator Quang Huy stated that dismantling illegal broadcasting systems is inevitable. He said: "What must come, has come, albeit late. For years, legitimate broadcasters have been at a disadvantage. Some entities have paid a heavy price up to this point."
From another perspective, Commentator Trương Anh Ngọc warned about the consequences behind such broadcasting channels. According to him: "Some young fans told me watching there is very fun... But behind all that, they also lure people into gambling. Everything ultimately serves one purpose: theft and gambling."
Sharing a similar view, Commentator Quang Tùng believes the appeal of these channels comes from their free-spirited entertainment atmosphere, but that harbors many risks. He emphasized: "A large audience supports those channels because they find them fun, but that kind of fun lacks control and easily leads to deviant behaviors."
