Van Su remains humble despite scoring the opening goals for the Vietnamese women's team.

Ngân Thị Vạn Sự became the "hero" by scoring a precious double that helped the Vietnamese women's team defeat India 2-1 in Group C of the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup.

"The whole team played excellently today. We fought with everything we had.

The coaching staff prepared a suitable strategy, and we tried our best to follow the game plan. I am very proud of my teammates and the team's performance," Van Su shared after the match.

The Vietnamese team faced a challenge after India equalized in the second half, but Van Su revealed there was no panic within the squad.

"Entering the second half, we talked and encouraged each other as a collective. It was unfortunate that India scored, but we knew there was still plenty of time. We continued to motivate each other, gave our all, and managed to score another goal. We are very happy about that."

The forward from Hanoi Women's Football Club scored the winning goal in the 7th minute of added time, a reward for the thorough preparation behind the scenes.

"The coaching staff prepared a very correct strategy, and during training, we spent a lot of time reviewing footage of India and learning from previous encounters. Therefore, with this goal, I want to dedicate it to the head coach. This is a very emotional moment, so this goal is for the coach."

However, Van Su also admitted the team needs to learn from the situation that allowed India to get back into the match.

"Everyone saw that everything on the field happened very quickly. Just a momentary loss of focus can create such a situation. We will take it as a lesson and use it to improve ourselves for the next match."

At 12:00 on March 7, Van Su and the Vietnamese women's team will play their second group stage match against Chinese Taipei.
