Valorant Masters: The Reason for EDG's Four Consecutive Losses, Is It Really Because Kang Kang Selected Chamber?

The Valorant Santiago Masters is still underway, but the two CN region teams, EDG and XLG, have regrettably withdrawn. Both failed to win a single match on the international stage. The final hope for CN region glory now lies with AG. Whether they can secure their first victory against G2 is unknown. We wait for 4 AM on March 8, hoping the result will be a bit more favorable for us night owls watching! Currently, the CN region is experiencing a low point. Last year's world championship saw all teams stop at the quarter-finals, and now at the Masters, the teams' form hasn't improved. EDG, once the king of international matches, is also stuck in a difficult-to-describe situation! Reviewing EDG's two matches: the first against M8 and the second against T1. The first match could be seen as adapting to the foreign environment, needing some time to find their rhythm. But the second match against T1 was truly painful!

In the first game against T1, many might have anticipated a loss, but not such a complete defeat. The first round ended 13-1, with EDG only scoring one point—it was like their scoring channel was shut off! The sole round they won came from Zmjjkk's clutch moment, securing a 1v1 and defusing the bomb! If you watched the match, it felt like playing competitive mode ourselves—constant losses draining all spirit, no feel in duels, poor economy, as if the opponents were all smurfing and we had no human players! After losing to T1, many players raised a key question: Does Kang Kang selecting Chamber really pose a problem?

In our daily competitive matches, if a teammate opts for Chamber instead of a duelist, it's acceptable if their aim is sharp early on. If not, teammates might just say "let's surrender," because Chamber offers little pressure on offense and, without economy on defense, remains weak. But this Chamber player is Zmjjkk. Those familiar with him know that Chamber was actually his signature hero early on, and he even defined "Chamber" as a duelist! There's no issue with his playstyle, and EDG's overall system isn't flawed—they performed quite well in the Kickoff tournament! However, now on the international stage, opponents dissect strategies effectively. Choosing Chamber means teammates' pressure tolerance must increase, leading to imbalances in the team's defensive side.

Returning to the core issue: Zmjjkk selecting Chamber isn't the problem, but the team's coordination and默契 are insufficient, especially between the primary duelist CB, the information role, and the controller. Actually, having Kang Kang play as the primary duelist and letting CB handle Chamber could preserve the system and enhance synergy—the best solution! But CB likely wouldn't dare to play Chamber, a hero that carries immense pressure both in-game and in public perception! Hopefully, EDG can adjust properly, improve their coordination and磨合, and strive to recover in future international competitions!
